Liquid Medical Waste Neutralization Systems

Liquid Medical Waste Neutralization Systems

During the discharge of medical liquid waste from the neutralization tank into the sewage system, the pH level should be maintained between 6 and 9, and necessary microbiological disinfection should be ensured. In cases where the pH level is not suitable, acid or alkali should be added to adjust the conditions accordingly. A strong disinfectant should be used for the disinfection of medical waste liquids.

What Does Neutralize Mean? What is Neutralization?

Neutralization is an acid-base reaction in which an acid reacts with a base to form a salt and water. The pH of the neutralized solution depends on the strength and concentrations of the reactants.

This method is used in the treatment of wastewater to reduce the damage caused by the wastewater. Neutralization is used in the production of antacid tablets. Neutralization reactions are used to control the pH of soil.

STERIBOX®

As Chemya A.Ş., we have conducted the necessary surveys and project design for the Steribox® Liquid Medical Waste Neutralization System, and we ensure its regular maintenance and inspections. In general, the operation of the system is controlled through the automation device it is connected to.

The water and sewage administration of the city where hospitals or laboratories are located conducts sample collection to assess compliance with the parameters specified in the regulations for discharging wastewater into the sewer system. The analysis results are recorded and reported in our system.

Frequently asked Questions

What does neutralize mean?

Nötralizasyon, in everyday language, means to neutralize or make something unbiased. We use this expression in various fields of daily life.

In chemistry, being neutralized refers to the elimination of acidic substances by basic substances. Many chemical substances counteract or inhibit each other.

What is neutralization in treatment?

Water, in its waste form, may contain dissolved or suspended solid and harmful substances. Neutralization is a process that enables the precipitation of these substances and their removal from the water. As a result, in chemical treatment plants, the water in the neutralization tank reaches the appropriate pH range. Dosage is controlled using a pH measurement device, which leads to the emergence of neutral values.

How to neutralize?

Limestone and acidic water come into contact. In this encounter, the properties of limestone become active. Consequently, thanks to the neutralizing property of limestone, the acidity in the water decreases. As a result, less harm is inflicted on the environment.

Why is neutralization done?

The aim is to reduce the acidity level of harmful acidic water and prevent it from causing harm to the environment. Additionally, according to the current regulations, the use of a neutralization unit in installations is mandatory.

How to neutralize Hydrochloric Acid?

Hydrochloric acid is a chemical compound that is produced through various processes. The most well-known of these processes is the direct reaction of elements. Hydrochloric acid can be neutralized by reacting it with inorganic salts and alkaline solutions. In this way, it is neutralized and its acidic properties are eliminated, resulting in a neutral solution.

What is a neutralization device?

A neutralization device is a device that ensures the pH balance and neutralization of wastewater. It neutralizes the acids and various waste liquids generated during laboratory processes quickly and in a manner that is not harmful to health. These devices comply with quality standards and undergo tests before they can be put into use. Additionally, they store the waste within legal limits and operate silently.

When to use the neutralization tank?

For neutralization, acidic chemical waste must come into contact with calcium carbonate. This method is widespread due to its cost-effectiveness. During the application of this method, it is crucial to ensure that the water's increasing acidic properties do not cause damage to the pipes and sewage systems. Therefore, a neutralization tank comes into play to allow the waste water to reach discharge standards.
