Use of Chlorine Dioxide in Industry
CHEMYA® Chlorine Dioxide eliminates microorganisms in water by permanently destroying carrier proteins found in living cells. Due to its high redox potential (the ability to undergo reduction-oxidation reactions), CHEMYA® Chlorine Dioxide is much more effective in disinfecting viruses, bacteria, fungi, and single-celled microorganisms, as well as infectious organisms, compared to other insecticides. Therefore, the use of chlorine dioxide in industries is crucial.
Oxidation Potential
Due to its significantly higher oxidation potential compared to chlorine and other chemicals, chlorine dioxide requires a smaller amount of chemical to achieve effective disinfection. Chlorine dioxide can completely eliminate chlorine-resistant microorganisms like Legionella. One of the major advantages of CHEMYA® Chlorine Dioxide, when compared to other disinfectants, is its efficacy against biofilms. It gradually degrades the biofilm at low doses.
A concentration of 1 ppm of CHEMYA® Chlorine Dioxide will eliminate almost all Legionella bacteria in the biofilm within 18 hours. With a concentration of 1.5 ppm, a significant reduction in the biofilm can be achieved within the same timeframe.
Furthermore, the disinfection function of CHEMYA® Chlorine Dioxide is hardly affected by pH value. This allows for the use of CHEMYA® Chlorine Dioxide in environments with alkaline conditions without any issues.
